(Dig My Grave)

Free Album [14 Dec 2008|05:44am]

Hey guys. I've been a member of this community for a while, and I decided to post here and let everyone know I've shared my first full-length as a compressed .rar file on Rapid Share. I'll be posting a link on my MySpace shortly as well. 16 tracks of blackened death industrial metal with a lot of classical influence (?) too. :)

[18 Sep 2005|11:27am]

Went to an apocalyptica concert last night. It was fucking amazing. The level of technical skill those guys posess as well as their stage presence made this easily the best concert I've ever attended. Those crazy Finnish guys.. only they would have thought to play metal on cellos.

I also find it slightly amusing that there were mosh pits at a cello concert. But maybe that's just me.

[20 May 2005|09:33pm]

Quick thing here...

Soilwork-Dark Tranquility-Mnemic-Hypocrisy concert...blew me the fuck away. I totally forgot how heavy Dark Tranquility really was and wow...just wow. I absolutely loved them. Soilwork put on a pretty kick ass show. I have to say, that was one of the best concerts I've ever been too. The singer from Hypocrisy really freaked me the fuck out. He..he's just really creepy looking. I had a great time.

Even though they aren't metal, in this past month, I have attended a Kansas concert. Let me tell you they are fucking great also! Robbie, one of the leads and plays the violin was simply amazing! I adore him. I even met him after the concert and got to take a picture with him. Wonderful!

Sorry this is so abrupt. I'm really not in the mood to type.

Opeth get signed to Roadrunner [20 May 2005|07:03pm]

[ mood | food time ]

MTV.com (www.mtv.com) has issued the following report:

It's been more than two months since Mikael Akerfeldt's progressive death-metal outfit OPETH entered a Swedish studio for what will be the highly technical band's eighth album. Two weeks ago, Akerfeldt told Metal File the record's nearing completion but that there were still several critical details that needed sorting out — i.e. the album title, some lyrics — and a record label to release the damn thing.

Before this week, Sweden's exalted sons were one of the world's most wanted unsigned bands. But that all changed within the last couple of days, when Opeth finalized a deal with New York's Roadrunner Records, bolstering an imposing roster that already includes Killswitch Engage, Slipknot, Obituary and Cradle of Filth.

Akerfeldt, Opeth's haunting vocalist/ambitious guitarist, disclosed several details about the band's forthcoming, self-produced opus. The follow-up to 2003's acoustic masterpiece, Damnation, and Opeth's first disc in years without producer Steve Wilson, the album will include ‘Ghost of Tradition’, ‘The Baying of the Hounds’ and ‘Isolation Years’.

"Musically, Damnation was an experiment for us," Akerfeldt said. "It also helped us to develop our sound. So this time around, you can say the overall record is going to be heavy-sounding. There's also a couple of songs that are more in the style of Damnation, so to speak. We also have a new member in the band, our keyboard player, Per Wiberg. So we have some vintage keyboards this time around on the heavy material as well. Overall, this one is heavy."

Akerfeldt said Opeth will finish the record before month's end and expect to release it as early as late August. He also said they'll play some new material this summer as part of the inaugural Sounds of the Underground tour.

"We've never done anything like [a festival tour] before, but this is a new thing, so we're excited," he said. "It's a good chance to reach out to people who've never heard from us. I'm also looking forward to seeing Strapping Young Lad and Clutch perform. Many of the bands on the tour I've never heard of."

:-/ I worry they may change their sound and become crap. Then again, I have enough faith in them to stick to their roots.

Your thoughts?

Slit Your Guts [18 May 2005|06:41pm]

[ mood | accomplished ]

Seeing as how this community doesn't see enough action anymore and I'd get all kinds of shit from people if I posted this in most metal communities...

Here is my personal list of the Top Ten Death Metal Albums of All Time. I repeat: "personal list". I did not even try to be "objective". Thus many of you may disagree. Also, I'm restricting myself to one album per band, so that my list doesn't just consist of Morbid Angel's entire discography (jk).

So as not to wantonly brutalize your friends pageCollapse )

I'm delaying my upcoming Top Ten Black Metal Albums list because I've got a couple of BM cd's coming in the mail yet, and I want to give them a fair shot to get in on the fun.

(9 Shoveled Away | Dig My Grave)

[22 Apr 2005|11:18am]

So I've been thinking a lot lately about things we could do in this community every so often to keep it a little active. Finally something popped in my head.

I think for something to do we should go on about concerts.

Tell us about your favorite concert. Tell us the worst one, the one you didn't want to go to but your friends dragged you anyway, the one that made you cry, anything. Tell us one that you are going to go to or want to go to, etc. Have a little fun.

Of course I will start this off.

I have to say my best concert thus far is when I went to the Children of Bodom, Fear Factory, Lamb of God, and Throwdown concert. Fear Factory and Throwdown were very horrible but Children of Bodom was to die for. And our co-mod will agree with me endlessly. Lamb of God didn't really spark much but I do love their drummer.

I do have some confessions of some bands that I've seen before. (Now hopefully people won't find me and stone me) But I've had the horrible event of seening Kid Rock on stage (only because they were free tickets so I said why the fuck not.) Lit was with him, does anyone really even remember them? And I actually went to the Music as a Weapon Tour which had Disturbed, Chevelle, Unloco and I think that's it. I have to admit also that Chevelle really surprised me. I never knew they were a 3 man band and they do it well. Maybe it's not the heavy shit that I love, but very nice. Disturbed...they are just full of themselves. And Unloco I clearly don't remember.

I have to say the worst band that I have ever seen in my life is Kittie. It was my friends 16th birthday so I bought her tickets since they were coming 2 days before her birthday and they were in Philly. So incredibly bad. All she did was growl horribly and you couldn't hear anything since the bass and her voice blurred together. Mudd...that's all it was.

Now, this Saturday I'm going to the Soilwork, Dark Tranquility, Mnemic, and Hypocrisy concert over in Philly. I am so looking forward to see Soilwork and Dark Tranquility. This should be a great show. Minus the 90% chance of rain that we have. So, I shall update sometime next week after the show.

Hope your stories are more interesting and entertaining than mine. And also, hopefully you've seen better bands than I have.

...In reality, I'm trying to be scene.

Pick the one you'd prefer to believe, it's okay.

Good night to you.

[ mood | disappointed ]

I can honestly say that out of the 500+ people in my building... there are two of us that are into metal. We are a dying breed methinks.

It probably doesn't help that I go to an institution with a reputation for snobbery.

I was browsing through people's shared lists on the network today... by the time I'd finished I'd heard enough beyonce and dashboard confessional to make me want to break things.

Bloody slagging hell... how did I survive in this all girls, all party, all the time, let's dress like ho's and talk about boys all the time rez.

sorry. I wanted to rant about it and figured I might as well try to keep this community alive. Heh.

But seriously, female metal fans are a scarcity these days. It's sad making. Even in highschool there were more that two of us. And I'm talking about true metal with it's face shredding solos and 12 minute long power ballads. I don't count limp bizkit and linkin park in there -_-

I never post here so I'm out of here. Nice knowing ya.

It never was that clear to me what the intentions of this community was, other than trying to have some kind of pride in being rejected, which is admirable, but...

Well. There's so far that go, unless its turned into a full blown metal community, rather than just new members filling in questionaires.
